Island in Marinduque: Maniwaya Island in Sta. Cruz


Maniwaya island is located in the town of Sta. Cruz in the island province of Marinduque.


The island has a long stretch of shoreline at the southwest and northwest portion with fine white sand; while some part is made of broken corals. There are a few resorts in the island. If you want a real island experience, you may opt to camp out - just bring your camping gears.

HOW TO GET TO MANIWAYA ISLAND, MARINDUQUE

  1. If you're coming from outside the Philippines, your point of entry should be the city of Manila.
  2. From Manila, take a bus bound for Lucena Port. Jac Liner has daily trips to Lucena, terminals can be found in Pasay-Taft and Kamias along EDSA. Fare is around 220 pesos and travel time is about 3-4 hours.
  3. Get off at Lucena Port. From here, take a ferry boat to Sta. Cruz Port. Travel time is about 3 hours.
  4. From here, take a motorized boat to Maniwaya Island. Travel time is about 45 minutes.
